DIY Headboard!! *First*

So I had yet to attempt a DIY project, at least involving anything power tool based anyway (dirty mind)!  So, after pleading and compromising for a couple of months...Mr. Fed (my man) finally decided it was time!! You have to understand that if he isn't ready then it won't happen for a while, BUT when he is...He gets what I call "Project Happy" and decides that everything has to be done now! Not tomorrow, but now! So, I had originally presented him with a plan from http://ana-white.com/, involving a headboard and footboard...But ultimately compromised on just a headboard. Hey, I'm not complaining...Mr. Fed wanted me to settle with a couple pieces of trim mounted in the shape of a square above the bed...I was not about to let that happen, lol!!  So, off to home depot he went (Mind you it's pouring snow outside)...while I stayed back and did womanly things like clean...Blah!  He got back unloaded all of the wood and proceeded to make the appropriate cuts (with my help of course!)

So handsome with his circular saw!! - See I'm helping!

Long story short...an hour later we had a headboard!  So easy!

and...after a quick paint job with some left over white paint...
VOILA!!
Highly recommend either refinishing or creating your own piece of furniture!  Not only are you recycling, but you are saving a TON of $!

Cheers!

Big plans for 2011!

Hopefully you are reminded just how grateful you are, for the time you have.  Take every moment to express your love...because gessh (explitive deleted*) once you hit 30, time flies!!  I Was able to spend Christmas in Phoenix, with my sisters and niece and nephew. It's absolutly amazing how quickly they grow up...I love love love watching these little people experience life :) So, I have been struggling for some time now to finally get a DSLR of my own.  For now, I have been borrowing my friends camera but it's not the same...Nichole you have been a blessing to let me borrow yours!  It's seems to be really difficult to save up and put down $500 smakeroos...BUT for myself I have to do this, I can not put it off any longer!!  This crazy passion within, I don't know where it comes from but it's not going away any time soon, haha!! So, for all you folks out there who need a FREE photographer or would love to model for me...Hit me up!! My BF and friends are getting tired of me documenting Everything...including the weather with my IPhone! ha

Goals for 2011 are:
  • Purchase my very first, very own Canon EOS Rebel
  • Take a photography course through Colorado Free University http://www.freeu.com/
  • Go back to school (.) Period!
  • Become a carpenter!!  (Seriously excited about this!) - Nervous about learning how to use the circular saw though :(
  • Oh yea...and loose the same damn 10 lbs that I promised to lose in 2010.  My diet starts Monday, lol!!  I swear!  I'm 30 now...no excuses!
  • Figure out my creative nack...It's there, I just need to tap into it!
Here are a few pics from my Christmas visit in Phoenix....Enjoy!

Cheers!

Where do I begin...

Last night was full of firsts!  Starting with a wonderful dinner on Brent's patio (aka. Biff), in a quiet historic bungalow situated in the Highlands.  Always trying to impress, he grills up some Salmon burgers with veggies and sweet potato fries...Of course, I provided my yummmy guacamole which is a Must at any get together!! Never having Salmon burgers, I wasn't quite sure what to expect?  Surprisingly they were quite good, texture and flavor was there, but getting over the fact that my burger tasted fishy was a little difficult! haha

Feeling inspired to experience something new...We walked a couple blocks to Z Cuisine   http://www.zcuisineonline.com/.  There are so many neat places in Denver that I have yet to see but this one was awesome!  One part restaurant and one part absinthe bar!  We settled in at a quaint table for 4, in the cutely decorated bar that was buzzing with people.  I don't know about you but I've never had absinthe, and being that it just became legalized in the states, the idea was intriguing!  All four of us looked a lil lost, not quite sure what to order but we had a wonderful server who explained everything and began to prepare our absinthe fountain!  Feeling overwhelmed that there was a variety of absinthe from all over the world, he started us out with Leopold, which is from right here in Denver and is the #3 in the world!  Patiently waiting as he sets up the ice-water fountain...each glass gets a sugar cube that sits atop a slotted spoon, above your glass.  As the sugar cube is lit, it glows with a blue flame, and as the flame dies, the ice-water drips over the sugar cube dissolving directly into your glass of absinthe.  Creating a perfectly cloudy drink that is only meant for sipping...the first sip of Leopold tastes of a refreshing liquorish!  Hoping to be back soon, as I am just as intrigued to taste all of the worldly flavors!  mmmm :)
